This could be the specific time period you are discussing, country/location, specific case, etc. Being specific about the scope of your paper is like an academic safety guard, diminishing any criticisms for not addressing issues outside of your specified scope. This will give you a pretty good idea if the article will be of use to you and save you time from reading the whole thing. Start with class resources and then move to library resources. Sometimes, using a certain number of class readings is a requirement. Write a composition about your lifestyle that shows your character. You have to use a certain structure when writing an essay; especially if you want to have a perfect ending. Some general things to keep in mind when doing your research is to be careful to stay on topic and always double check with yourself that the research is relevant to your essay. then it is clear that a balanced essay is required.

Expository Paragraphs

Expository Paragraphs Imagine a reader, then try to predict their objections to your argument, and then demonstrate why they are wrong. A well-structured essay should consist of a series of paragraphs that progress logically through the series of points that you intend to cover. You may feel that you are repeating yourself, as the body of your essay should have made your argument clear already, but the reader will appreciate a good summary. Remember that good essays don’t just give evidence for their point of view, but also demonstrate why opposing views are flawed. What constitutes “good style” is one of the hardest things to state explicitly, and is perhaps the criterion most open to personal variation. But there are some points that you should bear in mind. One of these points is that you are writing an academic essay, and as such, are required to use a reasonably formal style of writing. This does not mean that you should be obscure, or use impossibly long sentences with multisyllabic words, but you should avoid being overly colloquial. Originality is one of the hardest things to achieve in an essay, but any effort you make at being original will be noticed by the marker. We deliver genuinely original work that’s written just for you. We find a writer with an MA or PhD degree in the relevant area of study. This writer takes your instructions and develops a paper from scratch. You can’t get such level of personalization elsewhere. Although this may sound obvious, a lot of essays lose marks for containing material that is simply irrelevant. Make sure that you read the assignment sheet thoroughly and are sure about what it asks for before you start reading for the essay. While you are reading, bear in mind what sort of material you are looking for in order to address the assigned topic. Even if you do come across a lot of interesting material when researching for your essay, be selective. Interesting material won’t gain you extra marks unless it is relevant. Academically, the information provided will help students from upper grade school to adult writers. Learn to write essays with skill which will help with all written assignments whether for school or work. The essay writing process is linked to learning; developing a sound essay writing technique enhances your learning. The following provides an audio-visual representation of the essay writing diagram. Students who complete the course and apply the lessons learned will have a full understanding of the essay writing process and how to achieve the best results. This doesn’t mean that you have to invent a new theory each time you write an essay. Your essay should have a definite ending, in the form of a conclusion. Here you should summarize what it is that you have said in your essay, stating what your answer to the question is and why. Often, there is no simple answer (which is why you are writing an essay, and not a two-mark answer on a class test), so you should state what the complexities of the issue are. As you can see, a writing agency is needed not just because students are after convenience. In fact, many of our customers hire us because they are very committed to their studies and they need instructions with these papers, so they can get better at writing. For students that are not that great at writing, the collaboration with a professional writing services can be a learning experience. If you are unsure of what to write read the essay question and answer it in one paragraph. So many students either forget to write a conclusion or fail to give it the attention it deserves. Obviously, the difficult part is working out what that order should be. In essence, an essay is an argument, so your structure should be based on the particulars of your argument. If there is a word count for your essay try to devote 10% of this to your conclusion. There should also be an appropriate balance between these two essay components. Most students make the mistake of writing too much knowledge and not enough evaluation . The essay writing techniques you’ll learn in the essay program are not just about producing a piece of work that gets a good grade, they’re also about effective learning.

Writing An Essay

Writing An Essay There are instances when you’re given an assignment, not by word count, but assigned by the number of pages. For example, “Write a paper four pages long.” If you get an assignment to write four pages, one of the first questions that will likely come to mind is, “How many words are in four pages? Without a daily word count, I would never complete them. Can someone explain to me why so many people are obsessed with word count and page count? If you’re a writer, shouldn’t writing well be the most important thing? These words may not be perfect and will likely need to be heavily edited, but it gets the ideas down and keeps them from getting stuck on one area of their book. It’s a way to motivate them to get the book done. It works well for me, but I know others who don’t do well with it. I think it depends a lot on your personality, but forcing myself to be consistent day in and day out helps me get my books done. The truth is there is no definitive answer to this question. For example, if the assignment says the writing should be in 10-point font, it’s going to take a greater number of words to fill a page than if the assignment requires a 12-point font. The important issue is to write the best essay you can, not the length of words. If you’re focus in only on the words and not what you’ve written, your writing is never going to be good. Focus on what’s important, not on things like this. Because 750 words is nothing to sneeze at, it's also nice to have an easy way to know how many words you have to go. This site of course tracks your word count at all times and lets you know when you've passed the blessed 750 mark. Why do writers seem to obsess over word count and page count? Is this really something that’s worth complaining about? This is a great guide, but people should be aware that these are just estimates. For example, I am currently writing a paper and have 5,000 words, but only 17 pages . Things like paragraph size and headers need to be taken into account as well. And it gives you a nice big screen to write on, automatically scrolls as you write , and automatically saves your writing as you go. Over time, I've found that it's also very helpful as a tool to get thoughts going that have become stuck, or to help get to the bottom of a rotten mood. That’s completely ridiculous but my teacher refuse to reinstate the point she took off because she said 2500 words and not 2498 words. I could’ve just said that my was 2500 words and she would’ve never known the difference. I don’t understand why I’m being punished for being honest. Many authors use word count as a motivational tool. To help them from getting stuck and editing each sentence over and over again as they write, they choose a minimum number of words they want to write each day. My teacher told me that I needed to write an essay that had 2500 words. I got marks off for not writing an essay with exactly 2500 words.

How To Write A 4

How To Write A 4 However, even an experienced writer needs to be deliberate and thorough in order to write a well-constructed essay. An essay assesses the strength of your critical thinking and your ability to put that thinking into a persuasive written form. After getting an overview of the essay, you will be in a better position to choose a more relevant topic. Begin by brainstorming, sit down, be calm and start a free flow of thoughts and jot down ideas. Narrow your focus and choose an interesting topic depending on the type of essay and purpose so you can create a top notch essay. Honestly, throughout most of high school and college, I was a mediocre essay writer. When it comes to learning how to write better, MyEssayWriter.net is that company. The writers there are skillful, humble, passionate, teaching and tutoring from personal experience, and exited to show you the way. What they teach you will help you improve your grades. Our company was started by an award-winning journalist who saw the need from students to have someone take care of their annoying assignments for them. Let’s face it, school is a nuisance, so when you are calling out to the sky write my essay for me! Our top writers are designated to complete full courses. This is the best way to get through your course with the least amount of effort. Their rating is based on previous customer reviews and rates. Before you hire a writer, you can familiarize yourself with his track record in detail. So don’t be afraid of writing down your ideas before they are fully formed, or in the ‘right’ order. Good, constructively critical feedback can give you excellent guidance on how to improve your essay writing. It is worth attending to all of the suggestions and comments you receive, and trying to act on them. Just keep an easy attitude to your assignment if you order it at EssayPro. We tried our best to create an effortless hiring process. Click the button on the main page and follow our simple instructions. We bet there is nothing easier than hiring writers at EssayPro. At EssayPro, we employ a large team of skilled writers. Shorter words are often preferable to longer words, unless there is some specific vocabulary that you need to include to demonstrate your skill. Short to middle length sentences are almost always preferable to longer ones. Use tip #4 and write five original sentences that could be turned into an essay. After you write your five sentences, it’s easy to fill in the paragraphs they will find themselves in. As you research your essay topic, search for this story of surprise, and don’t start writing until you can find it. Every story is about conflict and change, and the truth is that essays are about conflict and change, too! The difference is that in an essay, the conflict is between different ideas, the change is in the way we should perceive those ideas. However, toward the end of my time as a student, I made a breakthrough. I figured out how to not only write a great essay, I learned how to have fun while doing it. I know personally how boring writing an essay can be, and also, how hard it can be to write a good one. And over-long paragraphs tend to demonstrate that you are not clear about the specific points you are making. Of course, these are general points, and there may be some occasions, or some subject areas, where long paragraphs are appropriate. A tutor can learn a worrying amount about the quality of your essay simply from how it looks on the page. As with teaching, it is often not until you try to communicate an argument and its evidence that you find where the gaps are in your knowledge or argument.

How To Write An Academic Essay

How To Write An Academic Essay Yet the potential benefits of flavanols in chocolate are currently offset by the high fat/carbohydrate content of most forms of chocolate. Whether chocolate is a food or a drug is also unclear. For a 1000 word essay you need at least three days to redraft your essay. Try and achieve a balance between both types of in text-references in your essay writing. There are over a dozen types of essays, so it’s easy to get confused. However, rest assured, the number is actually more manageable. Essays also sometimes begin with an issue, outline the scope and then move on to end the introduction with the thesis statement. Sometimes, particularly in very short essays, the essay will begin with an issue rather than a background statement. It can therefore be said that chocolate is not a healthy food, but can be enjoyed as part of a healthy and balanced diet and lifestyle. To write a 1000 word essay, ideally you should allow yourself about 3 weeks. Editing focuses on the big picture elements such as overall structure, appropriate paragraphing and whether the question has been answered. You might wonder how you can include your own voice and still sound academic when you are writing about a subject area in which you have little knowledge. Moreover, there is the possibility of some correlation between over-consumption of chocolate and obesity. Thus, it will be argued that despite chocolate’s positive effect in some cases on mood and the cardiovascular system it has also been linked to addiction and obesity. Leave yourself enough time to look at your essay more than once. Essentially there are four major types of essays, with the variations making up the remainder. Parents, does your student need assistance with essays? Sign up for either ourElementary School Essay Writing,Middle School Essay WritingorHigh School Essay Writingcourse for 1-to-1 guidance. Include a reference in the text, where the words or ideas appear, and in a reference list at the end of the essay. Obesity and chocolate consumption seemingly have no proven correlations. Another possible positive dimension to chocolate is a correlation with cardiovascular health. Including your voice does not mean that you should say ‘I think’ or ‘in my opinion’. Since Spanish explorers brought back chocolate from the new world, chocolate consumption has become a worldwide phenomenon. At first, chocolate, a derivative of the cacao bean, was consumed as a drink, only later achieving mass popularity in tablet or bar form. However, chocolate’s inherent popularity does not equate to it possessing healthy properties, as suggested by the title. The realities of chocolate are more down to earth; a number of these realities will be addressed in this essay. These essay questions often require you to structure your answer in several parts. An example may be to ask you to investigate a problem and explore a range of solutions. You may also be asked to choose the best solution and justify your selection, allow space for this in your essay. Sentences giving further explanation and providing evidence from both the literature and the data, e.g. the case study to support the topic sentence . Logically structured body paragraphs which include supporting evidence from academic sources. Chocolate has chemical properties that can influence mood and there is possible evidence for some positive impacts of chocolate on cardiovascular health. Yet, such positive attributes are counterbalanced somewhat by the argument that, in some instances, chocolate can be viewed as a drug rather than a food.

Obviously, an essay of 1500 words will have a narrower focus and will require greater summarizing skills than one of 3000 words. You may already be quite comfortable writing essays and if so, you will have a definite feel for what works for you. You should pay special attention to Section 4.3 on stylistic conventions, as there is little scope for flexibility on these matters within a particular academic discipline. This is without doubt the most vital part of writing an essay. It is your plan that determines what approach you take to answering the question. If you have written your plan properly, you will know exactly what your answer is going to be â€" this is not something that should be decided while you are writing your essay.

Evidence of independent thinking, insight and evaluation of the evidence. Each paragraph should comprise a main theme which are illustrated and developed through a number of points . Now let us look at what constitutes a good essay in psychology. After writing your plan conduct supplementary reading and refine your plan and make it more detailed. A simple way to write your reference section is use Google scholar. Just type the name and date of the psychologist in the search box and click on the 'cite' link. The reference section is the list of all the sources cited in the essay . Finally, only repeat citations when it is unclear which study / theory you are discussing. Repeating citations unnecessarily disrupts the flow of an essay. When you have finished the first draft of your essay you must check if it 'flows'. This is an important feature of quality of communication . This plan could be in the form of a mind map, a summary table, or by writing a core statement . Drinking Age in the U.S. - Free Essay Example

Nowadays, drinking alcohol has become practiced and legal everywhere in the world. Every country and culture has its own way of using this substance. In parties, in everyday routine for some, or just as a casual refresher. But not every place in the world has the same legal drinking age. The minimum drinking age in the United States is 21, this age should be lowered to 18, like the other majority countries in the world. Eighteen is the age of adulthood in the United States, and adults should have the right to make their own decisions about alcohol. At this age an adult is legally able to vote, smoke cigarettes and get married. Why can adults be responsible for the aforementioned, but still are not able to order a drink legally? By letting all mature adults drink legally in supervised areas, would prevent or decrease unsafe drinking activity. We all heard about pregaming and predrinking in which the goal is to get drunk super fast before going out in order to not buy other drinks or just because you are under-aged to go out. This activity is the cause of a lot of over-dosed, intoxicated under-aged drinkers. Since mature adults know that they cant be seen drinking in public, they make sure to do it well in secret and take the hardest liquor they can before going anywhere. We all know that 18 to 20-year-olds are not all angels and do not wait until 21 to drink, instead they drink intensively without supervision which leads to a lot of intoxications. The other side of this is, those who actually wait until they are the legal age to drink, once they hit their 21st, there is just no more control and they usually exaggerate alcohol use since they never really got to get used to it gradually. Prohibiting this age group from drinking in bars, restaurants and other licensed establishments causes them to drink at house parties, fraternities which leads to other unsafe behavior. I come from Quebec, Canada where the drinking age is at 18 years old. I started getting influenced and going out and drinking illegally around 17 years old, but mostly at 18. By starting at an early age I had a taste of what alcohol is and what it did to me, so I gradually made changes in dosage and made changes for what suited me the best. I moved in Arizona in January 2018 at the age of 20. Once I arrived over here, I knew I was under-aged to drink, I did not feel a rush of wanting to drink badly or to do stupid stuff that illegal drinkers could do. After partying, going out and drinking legally for three years, I had time to calm down and I knew how to drink by testing alcohol in the early ages. I recently got my 21st birthday in Phoenix, but nothing changed because I got used to it before. This same story goes for these young adults in the United States. If the society doesnt want to see too much of them, usually intoxicated and drinking intensively in private because they know t hey cant in public or because they wait until 21 and get over-dosed easily by the excitement and because of their lack of experience then the drinking age should be dropped down to 18. On the other side of the medal, it is understandable that lowering the drinking age in the United-States would be medically irresponsible. Since the brain is still developing, alcohol consummation could weaken the frontal lobe if not consumed properly and there are always the risks of becoming addict to this substance that is present. Even though these second-hand reasons support the fact that we should not lower the drinking age, no matter what the drinking age is, at 18, people know that they are adults, there is alcohol everywhere in their surroundings, they usually get influenced by close friends and they get curious. This leads to the consummation or the tasting of alcohol in the early ages for most. Since this practice is already started by many once they are adults, why not just bring down the drinking age at 18, that way we are showing our trustworthy towards them and showing our belief that they can handle themselves and take care of their own consequences at the age of 18. And this will most likely lead to more responsible drinkers in the United-States for the future. To conclude, in despite of alcohols negative effects that it could have on young adults, at 18 years old they are adults and should deserve the approbation of the society for alcohol consummation. As an adult, you should technically have the rights to do whatever you want under the condition that you deal with the consequences of your actions.

Terrorism Essay - 1090 Words

Terrorism is a form of violence that is difficult to define. The State Department defines terrorism as quot;premeditated, politically motivated violence perpetrated against noncombatant targets by sub-national groups or clandestine agents, usually intended to influence an audience.quot; Terrorism is not a random, undirected, purposeless act of violence, it has definite goals and violence is the medium of attaining those goals. The most well-known, recent instance of terrorism were the attacks made on the World Trade Center on September 11th , but terrorism goes back to first-century Palestine, where Jewish Zealots would publicly slit the throats of Romans and their collaborators. Because the causes of terrorism are so deep-rooted and†¦show more content†¦The group behind the attacks, Al-Qaeda, is an Afghanistan based group led by Osama Bin-Laden. What is the root cause of terrorism and what can be done about it? While no-one knows for sure, there has been a lot of speculation as to these issues especially after 9/11. There are several key factors that seam to be prominent. The key reasons for the most recent of the attacks, especially 9/11, are due to deep seated hatred for American policies and actions around the world. Strong anti-American undercurrents breed tolerance for extremist terror networks, like those of Osama bin Laden in many Islamic countries. Although most Americans would not agree, many foreign countries view America as very arrogant, and say we had it coming on 9/11. However, much of terrorism is aimed at the western world, not only the United States. Much of these anti-western sentiments can be traced to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict. In that area of the world, terrorism is not a seldom occurrence, but rather a near daily occurrence where casualties are normal. Mobile Technology Into Distance Education â€Myassignmenthelp.Com

Question: Discuss About The Mobile Technology Into Distance Education? Answer: Introducation According to Kumar and Ahmed (2008) education is a life-long process, this is an acknowledged fact. Learning, an integral part of education refers to the process of gaining knowledge. Knowledge can be gained from every sphere of life, through social experiences, literary knowledge and practical knowledge. It is necessary for an individual to acquire proper education so that the person is able to handle any kind of circumstances. Considering the given case scenario, it has been observed, the principal and teachers of the school have decided to educate the grade two students about the fire incident which occurred in the coal mine. It is believed that science projects management can be conducted, dealing with questions about the reason and consequence of fire breakout along with the effects. Jim the local fire-fighter has been invited so that he can talk about the incident with the students. It can be assessed that the school has taken the traditional approach of education. Firstly, the class consists of a large group of students. Secondly, the fire-fighter would some to the class to talk about the whole incident of the coal mine fire accident and this includes a long lecture. The estimated time for the whole discourse would be around 40 to 50 minutes, minimum over 30 minutes. Apart from the fire-fighter, the teachers would participate to conduct further discussion with the students. From the scenario, it has been understood that the teachers has asked the students to write a full essay about the coal mine and the fire breakout, the effects, impacts along with the consequences. This is considered necessary to get an overall assessment of the students regarding the entire incident. It is believed that this step would be helpful for the students to know more about the reasons which can create similar fire related incidents along with the way to resolve such issues. However , there are certain issues which can be perceived due to this method of teaching. The first and the foremost factor which needs consideration, the economics of students regarding the fire and coal mine incident. The case scenario has mentioned that the incident have forced the school to remain close for ten days. Students were unable to come to school because of the incident. It should be mentioned that the community has been affected much due to the incident, therefore it can be said that the incident is a sensitive issue for the students which should be handled properly. The issue with traditional teaching is that the fire incident is treated as general objectives without much attention to the student behaviour regarding the matter (Best et al. 2013). Care should be taken to consider the students emotions regarding the fire incident. It is said that the fire-fighter Jim would be coming to the school to talk with the students which would be mainly one-sided in nature. Discussion would be made with the entire class; this means most of the students would be passive learners. Discussion tends to be one-sided in nature because after half an hour, the students would feel the discussion session dull and tedious. This would make the students lose interest and unwilling to conduct participation in the discussion session with the fire-fighter. Apart from the students who are expressive, students who find it difficult to interact and communicate would not be able to participate in the discussion in an effective manner. It is said that the students would have the task of writing an essay about the fire and coal mine incident. The issue concerning this decision is that, unless and until the students have a clear idea about the entire incident and is interested to perform the task, the task would be beneficial (Bennett, 2014). Considering the different issues and shortcomings with the traditional learning, it is necessary to encourage and implement new learning process (also known as student centric education). Examination of new practices, partnerships and technologies for teaching and learning Taking into account the context of the presented case scenario, it seems that Ms Newcombe has taken the initiative to investigate the learning approaches that are new and different from the traditional method of learning. The new teaching approach is necessary to make the process of education more effective and enjoyable for the students, enhancing their knowledge regarding the fire incident in the process. It should be stated that in the 21st century, attempt is made to make the education approach student centric, giving importance to the factor of individuality. This approach encourages the lesson provider to be thoughtful and considerate towards the students (Grover et al. 2014). Communication is considered to be one of the most effective new learning practices. The connection needs to be established between the teachers and the learners. The former should be aware of the latters individuality and differences in order to understand the learning ability, skill and field of interest. Communication enables the teacher to maintain a healthy learning atmosphere in the class. For instance, Ms. Newcombe and Mr. Benjamin need to have conversation with the class and try to encourage students to be expressive about the coal mine and fire incident. Students should be directly involved with the work, for example, the students should go to the fire-fighter to give invitation for the discussion session. Encouragement can be provided to the students to conduct arrangements for the proposed discussion (Peeters et al. 2014). It is essential to make the study topic interesting and engaging for the students. This can be done by using modern learning technologies for the purpose. Multimedia and technology resources can be very much useful. For instance, instead of verbal discussion, creative presentation can be conducted aided with informative and interesting videos regarding the related topic. Games and videos can be used to make learning engaging (Gregory, 2017). AI (artificial intelligence) has the history of success in terms of being a useful tool for education; this can be used to teach the students. The AR technology (augmented reality) is considered effective for learning purpose. This technology enables the users to get information about a certain learning topic. Considering the case scenario where the students did not get to see the actual condition of the coal mine and the fire outburst, the VR (virtual reality) technology can be really useful and effective to let the students experience the actual incident of the fire outburst in the open cut coal mine. It is important for the students to get the actual experience and information of the incident, the VR technology can be very much useful to fulfil this purpose. ARG (alternate reality games) gaming method can also be used. These games are conducted with the help of email, text messages, phones or real world events. These games are multi-player in nature. Assessing the context of the case scenario, the class can be encouraged to play ARGs. For instance, the content of the game can be about ways to deal with fire and how to manage the effect of fire outburst, this would be helpful to enhance student interest and knowledge (Iversen et al. 2016). Modern student psychology has stated that the concentration phase of the student is short lived; the teacher needs to understand the fact. Instead of being unnecessarily descriptive, attempt should be made make the discussion concise and succinct. While conducting a serious discussion, the students tend to feel tedious and tiring, this can be avoided with a bit of humour. The teacher should have the mentality to say or comment something funny and humorous to make the environment light and to regain student attention. Students are different from each other with individual traits, strengths and shortcomings, herein lays the importance for individual learning (Dunst Hamby, 2015). The teacher should try to give individual attention to students; this would be helpful for the latter to generate interest about education. Peer learning or group learning can also be used enhance student-teacher as well as student-teacher interaction. Importance needs to be given on internal and external relationships keeping in mind the students wellbeing. The teacher should take the initiative to assess and understand the individual differences of the students, such as their strengths, shortcomings, potential field of interest. This information enables the teacher to know which learning approach can be better applicable and suitable (Drach et al. 2014)). The teacher should try to discuss ways of appropriate teaching with other fellow teachers. In terms of external relationship, the institution can make the effort to establish relationship with other academic organisations to conduct education programs and events. Taking into accounting the case scenario, the school can conduct partnership with Victorias fire-fighter entity and invite fire-fighters to engage in discussion and workshops related to fire management issues. There are many types of learning strategies, however, adaptive learning, incidental learning, learning through arguments is considered to be the effective learning strategies, the case scenario can be used for the explanation. Adaptive learning understands that all learners/students are different. Although a single teaching method is useful for most of the students but for some students, it is necessary to employ different teaching methods (Hkkinen et al. 2017). This learning is helpful to conduct student assessment. Learning through arguments refers not only discussion but expressing different perspectives and opinions about a particular study topic. It enables the learners to come up with new ideas and ways to resolve similar problems. This learning strategy can be much helpful to discuss about fire pre and post-management methods of similar accidents involving fire. Incidental learning indicates unintentional or unplanned learning (Viberg Grnlund, 2015). It states that students can gain acquire valuable lessons from any activity. Students can be given practical activity to allow the stud ents know more about fir management and coal mine. Review and comparison In todays time, importance is given on new learning practice. This practice chiefly concentrates on the overall learning behaviour, attitude, interest, learning capacity of the students, i.e. student-centric learning. Taking into account the case scenario, it can be said that the teachers need to conduct the new learning practices to have better results. It has been stated that a science project would be conducted. Students would be encouraged to discuss about the fire in the coal mine incident, this would be helpful to enhance student knowledge regarding fire management methods (Chen Denoyelles, 2013). In order to make the discussion, learning technology can be much effective. It has been stated that the students are required to write about the incident, in order to write well, the students need the factual information and the interest to perform the task. A VR technology can be used to give the information about the incident. This technology would enable the students to see the en tire incident in 3D picture, making the students feel they are actually present during the time of the incident. ARG gaming method can also be useful however this technology cannot be used properly in school. The VR technology would be a better option. It is necessary to give importance to the factor of internal and external partnerships for the comprehensive betterment and development of the learners. Several types of learning strategies exist, but adaptive learning, learning through arguments and incidental learning are really useful and effective. The three types of learning are different and student-friendly, appropriate for different learning circumstances (Halttunen, Koivisto Billett, 2014). Incidental learning enables students to acquire knowledge from real life incidents. Adaptive learning supports individual differences and hence separate learning needs as per learner ability. Learning through arguments highlights the fact that it is necessary and normal to voice different opinions and views. Arguments can occur and this would lead to the emergence of new ideas and solutions to manage various problems. Reflection While working in the team to complete the assignment task, I have had a pleasant experience. At times I had to face certain challenges and difficulties; however, overall the entire journey of working as a team member was overwhelming. I understood the advantage of working in a team, one of which was work distribution. Each member had the responsibility of fulfilling a particular task of the project; this prevented the stress of overload on a single individual. I became more confident and expressive while working with the team. I think communication is very much important to do team work. Communication helps to generate creativity and new ideas regarding a certain matter. Problems arose due to clash of opinions and difference in thinking mentality; however all of the team members made the effort to cooperate with each other nevertheless. I feel in times like this, it is necessary to be understanding and appreciative each others differences. Instead of being judgmental, flexibility sho uld be maintained to allow the scope of thinking like fellow mates. Every member should have this positive attitude. Difference can lead to problems, instead of continuing the issue; I think it is essential to look for solutions to such problems. I think adaptive, incidental and arguments; these three learning strategies are very much useful. All of the strategies encourage teacher-student communication and offers freedom to student thinking. The Complexities Of Mephostophilis Essays - Fiction, Literature

The Complexities of Mephostophilis In Medieval cycle plays, devils were portrayed as comic characters that triumphed over their adversaries in spite of their crudeness and ineptitude. With the advent of Renaissance drama, came new ideas and characters, as playwrights took a new stance in their portrayals of evil and devils. The devils and Mephostophilis in particular, in Christopher Marlowe's play Dr. Faustus are much more complex than those in preceding medieval drama are. Mephostophilis's only goal in the play is to acquire Faustus's damned soul for Lucifer. As straightforward a goal as this might appear, its execution becomes fascinating for the audience because of Marlowe's characterization. Mephostophilis is both friend and archenemy of Faustus. He is the teller of truths and the manipulator of lies; he is a reflection of Faustus's own character and an instrument of Lucifer's diabolical quest. Mephostophilis's diversity of characteristics makes him a most interesting Renaissance character because h! e is not flat, all good or all bad, but rather a multifaceted character, which wins over Faustus and draws the audience in with his intrigue. The play opens in Faustus's study, where Faustus is contemplating his many scholastic accomplishments. Having succeeded in his studies in both the academic and theological fields, Faustus has become bored and wishes to pursue further knowledge in necromancy. He conjures up the image of a devil and so begins the relationship between Dr. Faustus and Mephostophilis. Dissatisfied with Mephostophilis's demonic appearance, Faustus commands him, "I charge thee to return and change thy shape, /Thou art too ugly to attend on me"(I.iii.25-6). Faustus is uncomfortable with the devil's original appearance; he foolishly believes that, "by fiddling with surface matters,"(ix) the basic morality of the character can be changed. "Go and return an old Franciscan friar,"(I.iii. 27) says Faustus; this form not only makes Faustus more comfortable with the devil, but a Renaissance audience would have found this transformation more attractive and palatable as well. Without a word, Mephostophi! lis leaves to obey Faustus, and Faustus takes this as a sign of the devil's submissiveness. Faustus is falsely convinced that he is in control of the situation and that Mephostophilis has appeared only to fulfill his whims and to serve as his servant. He muses to himself, "How pliant is this Mephostophilis, /Full of obedience and humility, /Such is the force of magic and my spells"(I.iii.31-3). When Mephostophilis enters as a friar, Faustus is seeing what he wishes to see. The character of Mephostophilis remains as amoral as ever, but in the guise of a harmless friar, he appears more amiable. Our initial glimpse of Mephostophilis shows the audience and Faustus his true, horrifying nature. Along with this horrifying appearance early in the play, we see his only purpose is the capture of Faustus's soul. Despite Mephostophilis's transformed outward appearance, his purpose remains as malevolent as ever. As Mephostophilis quickly gains Faustus's confidence, the audience is able to peer further into his character. Virtually elated with his magical success, Faustus is oblivious to the ominous reason Mephostophilis gives for appearing. Contrary to what Faustus believes, the incantations he performed did not conjure up a devil; Mephostophilis explains, "when we hear one rack the name of God, /Abjure the Scriptures and his saviour Christ, /We fly in hope to get his glorious soul"(I.iii.46-8). Faustus scoffs at Mephostophilis and explains that he is not afraid of the ideas of hell and damnation, for he does not believe that they exist. The notion of hell is not so meaningless to Mephostophilis, who knows the torment of hell only too well. "Think'st thou that I who saw the face of God /And tasted the eternal joys of heaven /Am not tormented with ten thousand hells /In being depr! ived of everlasting bliss?"(I.iii.76-9) he demands of Faustus. Though he desperately seeks Faustus's soul, Mephostophilis cannot hold himself back from expressing the absolute truth of hell and its agonies. Faustus has already convinced himself that he wants what Mephostophilis can offer him and he refuses to listen to this important and solitary warning. He sends him off to tell Lucifer of his proposition to give his soul in exchange for twenty-four years of power and Mephostophilis's services. As Faustus sits waiting

The time period form which it was written attracted many people and the audiences were able to relate to the problems of the characters on stage. In the midst of a postwar boom in 1940, many Americans were optimistic about their future an d their hope for an improvement with their finances. They hoped to become rich from a commercial venture and then live a peaceful life with their families; This was their definition of the â€Å"American Dream.† Arthur Miller’s creation of Death of a salesman was completely opposite of this belief that people formed in their minds (Marino). They play’s main theme was a man’s quest to achieve the â€Å"American Dream† and his failure to ever reach it which then causes his death. This theme is well acknowledged in a quote from Death of a Salesman, â€Å"WILLY: What’s the mystery? The man knew what he wanted and went out and got it! E commerce Project Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 3000 words

E commerce Project - Essay Example SWOT analysis on BinHendi Company SWOT is grouping of the company’s information into internal and external factors. It entails looking into the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats that has an impact on the company’s operation and productivity. Strengths The main force that affects the business positively lies with their ability to offered unmatched quality, luxury, elegance and their strong and professional business acumen. Many companies and business have always failed in their judgment of the market and the result of this is always a low turn over in the sales as there is lack of demand for the goods and services offered by the targeted audiences(Gulf Business 85).. However, Binhendi Company has been accurate in most of its judgment about the market and the targeted audiences and this has played a crucial role in sustaining them in the highly competitive market. The company has also worked to provide a diverse portfolio of the world prestigious brands of fashion, watches, jewelry, accessories, furniture, and fine dining among others that are rarely provided by other companies. In addition, it has established good strategic associations with their suppliers and their customers and this has greatly contributed to their reputable brand image in both the local and the international market. Weaknesses The expansion of the company has majorly relied on the direct control of its operation. It has based all its operation within one country and this has denied the opportunity to fully exploit the international market. Using Dubai as its center of operation, the company has thus concentrated in the local market as would be the case when they are having major branches in other countries. Thus the international market has been neglected allowing it to be controlled by other rival companies. The company has also concentrated a lot in price elasticity affecting loyal customers who are price oriented (Gulf Business 79). Opportunities The fashion i ndustry is largely populated as different companies and producers are flocking the market with new products and services daily. Ethical Theories Essay Example for Free

Ethical Theories Essay Moral dilemmas are a part of daily life and the solutions presented to them are usually dependent on the ethics that govern the individual facing them. Every person at one point in time has been faced with a moral dilemma. This can be described as the values which are used to determine the right way to handle a situation and the wrong way to go about it. Each society and community has its own moral index and in some societies, an action may be viewed tolerable or right, while the same action in another community would be viewed as intolerable and frowned upon. The moral index of a society usually goes hand in hand with religious beliefs and communities which are religiously inclined to have strict rules on what is suitable behaviour and what is not. Societies which have more secular values usually tolerate extreme or eccentric behavior. The difference in opinions of different people in what is normally right and wrong has led to the development of various ethical theories. Two of these theories are utilitarianism and duty ethics. An example of a situation which brought about different ethical stand points is the Firestone Company tire recall in 1999 and 2000. The company had discovered that its newly designed firestorm Radial ATX, ATX II and Wilderness AT tires were defective back in 1996, after 8 of the 18 times were singled out after they failed a test that tested the endurance of tires under high speed. Of the 14. 4 million tires sold approximately 6. 5 million tires had to be recalled due to defects in the details which involved the tread and one steel belt separating from the other steel belt and carcass The details has led to serious and even fatal accidents as the cars overturned when the accidents occurred while they were in motion. In an attempt to show difference between utilitarianism and duty ethics we shall consider an engineer working for the company at the time and the stand he or she would take if they subscribed to utilitarianism or duty ethics Utilitarianism can be described as an ethical theory that proposes that the action that brings good or favorable consequences to the majority is not subject to whether it is right or wrong meaning it is not subject to questioning. (Fredrick,2003) This theory was greatly championed by utilitarians such as John Stuart Mill. This theory advocates for actions that produce happiness to the greatest or largest number of people. In an ideal situation this may be possible but usually any action can produce happiness to many or a few people depending on the action. The theory does not usually advocate for the use of ethically correct actions at all times and thus actions which may be viewed as wrong sometimes bring happiness to a large group of people but the actions still remain morally wrong. An engineer subscribing to the utilitarianism way to life would have supported the company stand and the action it took. The company discovered that some tires were defective and did not recall the rest of the tires that had already been sold. This lead to accidents which caused suffering and death and it was not until an investigation into the cause of the accidents that finally forced the Firestone Company to admit liability and recall the tires. The company did not recall the tires because it feared the losses that it would face incase the tires were all defective. The company chose to protect their profits margins at the expense of their clients. (Little, 2003) As an engineer with a utilitarianism view point this action would be the best because recalling would mean great losses and downsizing in terms of job which would mean unemployment for many people working at the company affecting both them and their dependants. The duty ethics proposes that the action taken in any situation should be just and honest and respectful to all persons involved. This ethical principle advances for the upholding of principles regardless to the wrong consequences whether they will be good or bad. (Graham,2004) An engineer working for the Firestone Company would have chosen to recall all the defective tires and conducted a through investigation to the causes of the defaults without external pressure or the threat of law suits as inducement. The engineer moral compass would have guided them to make such a stand regardless to the fallout which is this case would have resulted in major losses to the company. As per the requirements of the engineering profession, this mechanical engineer was ascribed to some basic fundamental ethics and the relevant professional codes of conduct while in the jurisdiction of their duty. These are guidelines aimed at providing safety standards for the engineers while at work and the common good of the society. However, the same was objectively inadequate in the Firestone’s case. As a basic requirement, they should exercise their professional skills and also knowledge in providing contentment in the general human life. Impartiality and honesty should prevail in their service where fidelity to the public should never be compromised above that of clients and also employers. Elsewhere, engineers should pursue a continued development in their profession and bring service to their different clients without any conflict. These are the basic fundamentals of mechanical engineers whose proficiency is provided by the support of the canons of mechanical engineering. In conclusion the moral stand point taken by any individual should always be after requiring all the necessary information. This is because in every decision made, there are always individuals who love and those who benefit. As in the Firestone, the recalling decision would have resulted in loss. After careful evaluation one should decide on the decision that brings minimal losses in the involved activity.

Music Censorship Essay -- Censoring Censorship Music Lyrics Essays

Music Censorship   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Today, in the 1990's, citizens in our society are being bombarded with obscene material from every direction. From the hate lyrics of Gun's 'N Roses to the satanic lyrics of Montley Crue and Marilyn Manson to the sexually explicit graphical content of today's movies, the issue is how much society is going to permit and where we, as a society, should we draw the line. The freedom of speech has always been considered a right, but that doesn't mean that you can shout, "Fire!" in a crowded movie theater. The real question is whether such material is harmful or dangerous to our society.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Many people are asking whether or not we should censor offensive material. They believe that some material is too obscene for society to hear or see. The advocates of censorship get riled up because the movie rating council doesn't give a move an R-rating for having the occasional f-word. One rap group, 2 Live Crew, has already had one of their albums banned because in one song they used explicit references to male genitals and 87 references to oral sex. They used the word "bitch" more than 100 times and the f-word more than 200 times.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Although most people agree that we are being overwhelmed with offensive material, there is no consensus on how to deal with the problem. There are three possible solutions. The first is the possibility of government censorship, which would include laws and penalties for breaking these laws. The second solution is self-imposed censorship by individuals and corporations. The third solution is total free speech with no censorship.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  The first possible solution is government censorship. In the past government legal actions have been taken to control offensive messages. For example, in 1988, the Ku Klux Klan wanted to appear on a Kansas City, Missouri public access cable channel. The city council decided that it would be better to shut the public access cable channel down instead of letting the KKK air their show. Later, under the pressure of being sued, the city council reversed their decision.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Critics of this sort of action agree that these offensive messages do exist, but legal action is not the way to deal with them. They believe that no individual acts the way the messages portray just because the messages exist. Another belief is that legal actions will intimidate creative people because it mak... ...ce Clay, considered offensive by some, shouldn't be censored from those who find him humorous   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Freedom of speech is an important part of any democratic country. While some people may find Rush Limbaugh's portrayal of President Clinton offensive, his show should not be censored. This is the price that we pay to live freely in a democratic society. Censorship does not have to be the solution. You always have the right to change the channel or put down a book. You have control over what you hear, see, or read. You are not forced to see or hear the offensive speech.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Opponents of the "first amendment view" believe that "just saying no" is not enough. For example, children most likely will not say no. This is why these people believe that the government should at least have the right to censor what children see.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Some people believe that censorship is the answer, others do not. I believe that this issue will be left up to the courts to decide. I fear that the media may become a swamp of regulations with no more entertainment value whatsoever, and I hope that this never happens. I think that the first amendment is a great right and that we should never abridge it.

The Role of Deliberate Practice in the Acquisition of Expert Performance

THE ROLE OF DELIBERATE PRACTICE IN THE ACQUISITION OF EXPERT PERFORMANCE Motivational Constraint A premise of our theoretical framework is that deliberate practice is not inherently enjoyable and that individuals are motivated to engage in it by its instrumental value in improving performance. Hence, interested individuals need to be engaging in the activity and motivated to improve performance before they begin deliberate practice. Bloom (1985b) found evidence supporting this implication. His interviews with international-level performers showed that parents typically initiated deliberate practice after allowing their children several months of playful engagement in the domain and after noticing that their children expressed interest and showed signs of promise. The social reactions of parents and other individuals in the immediate environment must be very important in establishing this original motivation. At the start of deliberate practice, parents help their child keep a regular daily practice schedule and point out the instrumental value of practice for improved performance (Bloom, 1985b).With increased experience and the aid of teachers and coaches, the developing individual is able to internalize methods for assessing improvement and can thus concurrently monitor the effects of practice. As individuals get more involved in the activities of a domain, competitions and public performances provide short-term goals for specific improvements. At this point the motivation to practice becomes so closely connected to the goal of becoming an expert performer and so integrated with the individual's daily life that motivation to practice, per se, cannot be easily assessed.Certain naturally occurring events and changes illuminate the relation between practice and performance. Activities in many domains, especially sports, are seasonal because most scheduled competitions occur during a single season of the year. If individuals enjoyed deliberate practice, they ought to practice at a uniformly high level all year. Instead, athletes train much harder during the preseason period and during the season itself; during the off season they often reduce the level of training dramatically (Reilly, 1990a; Reilly ; Secher, 1990).Many individuals who have practiced for a long period of time give up their aspirations to compete and excel in an activity. Without the goal of improving performance, the motivation to engage in practice vanishes. Kaminski, Mayer, and Ruoff (1984) found that many elite adolescents who decided to stop competing remained active in the domain but virtually stopped engaging in practice. Some individuals have had to terminate their professional careers for reasons unrelated to their ability to perform. In a longitudinal study of visual artists, Getzels and Csikszentmihalyi (1976) found that most artists were drawn to painting because it allowed social isolation. However, aspiring painters have to promote social relations with art dealer s, art critics, and buyers to gain notoriety, increase the demand for their art, and generate sufficient sales for full-time artistic activity. Failure to do so forced many of the best artists to take another job unrelated to painting.Once these artists could no longer commit sufficient time and energy to maintain and improve their performance they stopped painting completely because they could not accept performing at a lower level. This finding shows that the activity of painting as such is not inherently motivating but rather the act of producing art that satisfies the artists' subjective criteria for quality. DANCE Abstracts 1. Fink, A. & Woschnjak, S. (2011). Creativity and personality in professional dancers. Personality and Individual Differences, 51 (6), 754-758. AbstractIn this study three different groups of professional dancers (ballet, modern/contemporary and jazz/musical), which considerably vary with respect to the creativity-related demands involved in the respective dancing style, are compared with respect to psychometrically determined creativity, general mental ability and different facets of personality. Results indicate that modern/contemporary dancers, who are often required to freely improvise on stage, exhibited relatively high levels of verbal and figural creativity (as it was measured by means of psychometric creativity tests), followed by jazz/musical and finally by ballet dancers. With respect to personality, modern/contemporary dancers can be characterized as being less conscientious, higher on psychoticism and more open to experiences than the remaining experimental groups. In line with relevant research in this field, this study reveals some central personality characteristics of highly creative individuals which may be considered as important ingredients in the acquisition or actualization of exceptional creative potential. Highlights: > Dancers of different professions differ with respect to creativity and personality. > Modern d ancers score high on openness and psychoticism. Modern dancers show high levels of psychometrically determined creativity. Keywords: Creativity, Personality, Psychoticism, Openness, Dance 2. Martyn-Stevens, B. E. , Brown, L. E. , Beam, W. C. & Wiersma, L. D. (2012). Effects of a dance season on the physiological profile of collegiate female modern dancers. Med Sport, 16 (1), 1-5. Abstract Introduction: A collegiate modern dancer is a unique athlete because in addition to the physical demands of dance, she also has the artistic demands of creating and performing for a season of showcases, or in some cases, multiple showcases. In preparing for her dance season in addition to her academic schedule, a collegiate modern dancer’s training includes rigorous daily technique classes and rehearsals which may alter her fitness level across time. Objective: To determine the effects of a dance season on the physiological profile of collegiate female modern dancers. Methods: Eighteen colleg iate female modern dancers were measured for relative anaerobic power, fatigue index, upper body and lower body strength, aerobic capacity and body composition at both pre and post dance season. Results: At post season, there were significant improvements in relative anaerobic power (pre 7. 43 + 1. 01 W/kg, post 8. 00 + 0. 78 W/kg), body weight (pre 57. 80 + 5. 10, post 58. 72 + 5. 08), and body composition (pre 18. 60 + 2. 03%, post 17. 78 + 2. 49%), and a significant increase in fatigue index (pre 33. 38 + 9. 72%, post 38. 91 + 7. 49%). There were no significant changes in relative upper and lower body strength or aerobic capacity. Conclusions: The demands of a collegiate dance season resulted in improved power and lean mass but greater anaerobic fatigue in these female modern dancers
